Working for Change: the Irish Journal of Community Work is a north/south collaboration, first produced in 2009.
The Editorial Board for the Journal is made up of community development practitioners, academics, employers and organisations charged with the implementation of community work programmes from both the north and the south of Ireland.
The first issue of the Journal was published in 2009 in order to contribute to the recognition of community work and community development as a skilled discipline that warrants documentation, debate and analysis.
The Journal actively encourages and will provide support to practitioners to write and document experiences of community development and the learning arising from these experiences.
The current, second issue marks the 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. This theme was chosen in order to make a contribution to the reassertion of community work/community development as a key approach to addressing poverty, social exclusion and inequality.
The Editorial Board hope that readers will find much to discuss and debate on the Journal and would welcome comments back. Please leave comments here.
